In Valorant, you purchase guns at the start of each round, as well as your character’s abilities, the latter of which persist through rounds if unused. Heroes cannot be traded, which immediately gives more weight to the character selection phase. Whereas in CS you essentially choose your class at the start of each round with your purchase, in Valorant you have fewer options for changing your strategy mid-game. If you’re light on vision-obstructing skills and buying heavy snipers, you’ve got a serious problem to solve.
There are many quality of life improvements, such as the ability to right-click request a weapon, which a teammate can then click-purchase for you. There’s a practice mode where you get to grips with bullet sprays and a ping system to spot guns or enemies. All of which are nice to have.
Optimal Hardware Suggestions
With Riot Games’ laudable goal of bringing Valorant to as many players as possible, the system requirements for the tactical shooter are relatively tame for lower-spec machines, first to jump up a bit in terms of demand if you want to hit those high frame rates. But, overall, even the highest specification requirements aren’t excessive by modern standards.
Minimum system requirements are geared towards 30fps at 720p, even on integrated graphics like the Intel HD 3000. That’s no small feat, and we’ll have to wait for the final product to see how graphics quality translates. But, if League of Legends is anything to go by, then we can expect Valorant to perform well even at these low specs.
