Kids love the suspense…
Many adults and children love to play with fear. It injects drama into our otherwise drama-free lives. Scary moments activate neurotransmitters like endorphins, serotonin, oxytocin, and dopamine, which create a stimulating and satisfying rush in our bodies.
As for my son, he found Huggy Wuggy on YouTube after hearing about it from a friend at school. Please note that my son is 5 and still in reception class. To say I was shocked is an understatement!
Who is Huggy Wuggy?
Poppy Playtime is a PC horror game that involves an unnamed protagonist who investigates a mystery in an abandoned toy factory. As the player, you roam the factory and collect VHS tapes to solve the mystery of what happened. You must solve puzzles as you try to survive the ‘vengeful toys’ left behind. “Huggy Wuggy” is one of the most popular and visually disturbing characters in the game. He’s a giant, hideous blue creature with bulging eyes, wide red lips, and long limbs that actively follows you around as you try to complete the game. He appears in the dark unexpectedly to try and catch you. If you get caught, Huggy Wuggy flashes his wide, sinister smile and eats you.
Even though Poppy Playtime was released last year, there has been a recent increase in Huggy Wuggy-related content creation, along with character-based playground-style challenges. Dorset Police’s Cyber Protection Officer recently issued a statement, warning parents that children may be watching graphic fan-made videos that are popping up on platforms such as YouTube and TikTok.
