What is PUBG Mobile and Blackpink?

Mobile game PUBG Mobile has been exploring music for some time: working with Blackpink in 2020, Anghami in 2021 and then Blackpink again this year for a virtual in-game concert.

The next step is to get more into the music industry itself by launching a label called Beat Drop. “We hope to inspire PUBG Mobile players with incredible and heartwarming soundtracks for their gaming lives and beyond,” said Vincent Wang, head of PUBG Mobile publishing at Tencent Games, according to Esports Insider.


After last week’s teaser, it finally came true as PUBG Mobile reveals more details about their exclusive collaboration with BLACKPINK. In conjunction with the upcoming release of BLACKPINK’s latest album, “The Album”, as well as the exclusive collaboration with the world’s most popular mobile game, PUBG MOBILE also revealed special-themed in-game items, pictures, music from BLACKPINK lobbies and events for players to try.

Between September 24th and October 2nd, PUBG MOBILE players will be able to enjoy BLACKPINK’s recently released popular single “How You Like That” in the game lobby. Following the release of the group’s new album on October 2, players will be able to hear the new song playing in the game lobby.

Take part in the PUBG Mobile Stylist Challenge to win $100 in UC

PUBG Mobile has also launched a Blackpink-themed Stylist Challenge to win up to $100 in UC. To enter this contest, players must design K-pop-inspired outfits from their in-game inventory.

Players must take a screenshot of this outfit and share it on social media with the tags #PUBGMSTYLIST and #CONTEST. The challenge will be active until July 25th.

The collaboration with PUBG Mobile also marks the first time the group of K-pop superstars has digitized themselves in avatar form. The in-game concert received a lot of promotion online, but also in popular destinations like Times Square in New York City. The collaboration is also a first for PUBG Mobile, which is operated by Tencent Games.

Blackpink is signed to Universal’s Interscope Records through a global partnership with YG Entertainment in South Korea. The group recently broke their own record for the third biggest music video debut on YouTube with their new track, “Pink Venom”. The song debuted on August 19 and amassed 90.4 million views in its first 24 hours live. The group’s official YouTube channel now has more than 79.5 million subscribers, the most for any musical act on the platform.

Blackpink will release their latest album Born Pink on September 16th. Their debut full-length album, simply called THE ALBUM, was released in 2020 and peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart.
